About The Community
North Hollywood Schools
Part of the Los Angeles Unified School District, North Hollywood’s 20 public and charter schools include Celerity Palmati Charter School, Lankershim Elementary School, and Walter Reed Middle School (a California Distinguished School). U.S. News & World Report recently awarded North Hollywood High School a Silver Medal, and in 2014, the Washington Post ranked North Hollywood High School the 341st best high school in the U.S., 42nd best high school in California, and the 4th best high school in the city of Los Angeles.
North Hollywood Industry
Nationally known as a center of the entertainment industry—Disney’s Grand Central Creative Campus (home to Disney Interactive, the Muppets Studio, and Marvel Animation Studios) and DreamWorks SKG are all located there—North Hollywood is also home to the headquarters of Nestlé, the International House of Pancakes, and Americas United Bank. Since 2005, the Americana at Brand, a 15.5-acre outdoor shopping and residential community featuring 75 shops, restaurants, and a theater, has generated millions in revenue for the city.
North Hollywood: An Up-And-Coming Community
Since 2000, the community has been undergoing many changes and developing, thanks in large part to the formation of the 743-acre North Hollywood Development District and the subsequent NoHo Commons projects. These projects attempt to recapture North Hollywood’s historic image and restore the area’s economy. Consequently, North Hollywood’s landscape has been transformed, with condominium towers (including a 15-story building on Lankershim Boulevard) appearing in the midst of older one-story bungalows.
